In ages past, before the world was wrought with war and strife, humans co-existed with their creators. The gods made themselves nothing more than men among men and lived as their creations did. They did not use their powers for controlling purposes, as such measures were unnecessary in a world with few evils. Instead they brought balance and harmony to the people and allowed them to live free of worries, guilt, or sin.
For many thousands of years did the gods prosper with their creations, though the prosperity did not necessarily coincide with the time that had passed. Men became more greedy and expected more of the gods. When the gods refused to support their greed, they decided instead that their creation was not so perfect as they had thought. Something had interfered with the influence they exerted on the simple minds of humanity. With this in mind they departed the mortal plane to search for the cause of the unrest, much to the dismay of their creations.
When several hundred years had passed and still the gods had not made their return, the population of the planet had declined sharply, as the inhabitants knew not how to survive without the aid of their makers. Mellenia passed, and slowly but surely the race of mankind had begun to repopulate. Science emerged. Sprawling cities enveloped the once-beautiful lands of Arca and consumed the earth's resources at a staggering rate. Towers shot into the sky further than the eye could see; electromobiles zipped across the skyline; and all the wants of men were satisfied at the whim of a spoken word.
Men had all but forgotten about the creators they once so heavily relied upon. They had forgotten about the unconditional, eternal love once shed upon them by their celestial creators. They had made their way out from under the wings that once sheltered them and forged an existence all their own. When at last they had reached their peak of technology and there was nothing earthly left to be had, men looked to the stars. It was then that they realized there was an entire universe awaiting them, free for the taking. And so they built a vessel that would take them as far as their hearts desired: Skyspire.

When the vessel was completed, it had the capacity for every last human to depart their polluted, overrun planet forever. Each and every man, woman, and child filed into the massive structure and prepared to leave their homeworld in search of another. With a fiery blast that illuminated the entire planet, Skyspire climbed out of Arca's atmosphere and rocketed through space-time into the unknowns beyond. The energy given off by the vessel depleted the last remnants of Arca's lifestream, destroying all living organisms on the planet and reducing their once-great cities to mere rubble.
For eons to come, the planet sat dormant without so much as an ant stirring on its surface. It was then that the gods decided to return to their creation, only to find it devoid of life. Indeed they were disappointed, but not disheartened. They would begin anew by creating a new race of men. They created a single man and a single woman and allowed them to begin their race alone; they did not live with them as they had before, realizing that perhaps that was the flaw that created greed.
Centuries passed, and once again the race of men began to develop. They established their first kingdom, Alunis, and shortly after, a second kingdom, Estari. The gods did not aid them, but merely watched over them. Perhaps, without their interference, men would not learn of greed, hate, and sin.
Or perhaps men were greedy by nature and evil developed on its own. This was soon evident as the two kingdoms began to disagree on matters regarding trade and diplomacy. Before long, war broke out and mercenaries and soldiers alike began slaughtering each other in order to obtain their own desires. Several of the gods decided not to sit on the sidelines and allow their second creation to destroy itself. The Creators took sides and each demanded the worship of any who would follow them, causing war amongst themselves.
While the gods did not side with one kingdom or the other, they did promote war and conflict by aiding their followers in destroying their enemies. They granted the powers of magic to those willing to receive them, brutal strength to those who would carry a sword, and blinding speed to those who would hide their faces in battle. On occasion the gods themselves would storm the battlefield with unearthly minions, destroying all in their wake.
These demonic minions bred amongst themselves and created a new adversary for both kingdoms. Monsters, as they were called, began populating dark crevasses, caves, and even the fields right outside their own towns and cities. They infested every corner of the earth, menacing the populous, mauling merchants who dared to travel the roads, and causing soldiers to flee in the midst of battle.
It is during this time of strife and turmoil that the land of Arca needs most a savior; one pure of heart and impervious to the evils impressing themselves upon the hearts of men. The empires of Arcadia are locked in a conflict that can only be resolved through diplomacy, economy, expansion, and most of all - battle.
